International Removal Costs

How International Removal Costs are Calculated.

International removals costs are dependent upon the amount of household goods, furniture and personal effects you want to ship overseas. We assess the items and work out the volume in either cubic feet or cubic meters. The cost of the International removal is then based on the amount of space your goods will take up in a shipping container or removal vehicle.

VOLUME CALCULATION:
For example an average 3 seater sofa is estimated at 60cubic feet or 1.7 cubic meters, an armchair at 25cubic feet or .7cubic meters, a double divan bed at 60cubic feet or 1.7cubic meters, a washing machine is 12 cubic feet or .34 cubic meters. We add up the volumes  of all the items to be moved to arrive at a total volume of the shipment.

Other factors that affect international removal costs is the amount of export packing required, packing material costs, the cost of the ocean freight, fuel, and delivery agent’s costs. Prices also take into consideration the service level required, whether you require a box packing service or if you are packing yourself, whether you require an un-packing service or a straight forward delivery into rooms designated by you. You may require a special crating service for delicate or valuable items, parking suspensions, ladder lifts, Tran-shipment vehicles all these costs will be factored into your international removal and shipping quotation.

When obtaining quotes for your International Removal it is important to provide the removal company with as much information as possible in order to receive an accurate quotation. The removal company will need an accurate list of the items to be moved including a best estimate of the boxes required for the items which will need packing, such as bed linen, duvets, kitchen equipment, books, clothing, etc. The international removal company will need to know about any exceptionally heavy items, such as pianos or safes to be moved, and they will want to know if there are any access difficulties for the removal vehicle at the collection and delivery address.

INTERNATIONAL REMOVALS INSURANCE:
International Removals Insurance will increase the costs of your International removals. Whilst every effort will be made to protect your goods whilst in transit overseas, transport by sea involves several different service providers and associated risks. Shipments can be susceptible to loss and damage whilst in transit ie there could be an accident at the docks, or worse the container could be lost overboard. Taking out insurance for your possessions whilst in transit, although an extra expense is definitely an option you should consider.  Removals Insurance premiums are based on a percentage of the value you place on the goods. Plus Insurance premium tax @6% of the premium payable.

Very simple and the guys excellent
Bad experience with iMove. They said we would need 2 extra men because of difficult access and unnecessarily charged us extra. But the men that turned up said no extra help was required. But Nikki didn't care and wouldn't refund us. This topped up an overall bad experience anyway. They (Nikki) did not once call to update us on where our goods were or to inform us of delivery date. I had to follow up each time and got canned and even rude responses to these queries. Would not use again.
We used this company for our move from London to Auckland (NZ). The experience was really good at first, but when we received our boxes in Auckland, one was missing with parts for our baby's cot. At first they wouldnt want to hear anything as I didnt subscribe to an insurance (I didnt complain about the various things that arrived broken, but i thought delivering all the 25 boxes without missing one was the bare minimum we could expect from a moving company), I then had to escalate and speak to someone higher in the hierarchy, they first told me that they would cover the cost for replacing the cot...and then went silent. After 2 months I had to send them an email every week to have an update and it was always "we ll come back in a few days" (of course they did not) ... more than 2 months after my complaint (and 6 months after they collected the boxes in London to send them to Auckland) we are now left without a cot bed for our 10 month old baby and we have to buy another one for £300 as they cant replace the parts or even refund the cost. Needless to say that I am very disappointed, we paid top money for that move hoping it would go well but not only did they lose a box but the interaction to try and get a refund was very slow and painful. There are so many other moving companies, I would strongly advise to go with someone else.
